In the high end sector, the R520 outperforms or is on a par with the 7800 depending on a test and parameters. That's quite good, considering its 16 pipelines. It indicates a very efficient architecture of pixel units, which will only benefit from future scaling (R580). There is no evident advantage over the 7800 so far, but it dominates in many extreme synthetic tests. That's not a victory and, of course, it's not a defeat, it's a good advance.
