Olympus’ VN-960PC Digital Voice Recorder is the furthest thing from flashy, but it offers up to sixteen hours of recording time, which is fairly impressive for a device that costs less than $100. With the included USB cable, you can easily upload your audio files to your PC for storage.

The recording time dramatically decreases when one opts to record in a higher quality mode (SP or HQ). In LP mode, the VN-960PC suffered from audible distortion and tended to pick up a good deal of background noise. However, the quality is fine for dictation.
