Age of Empires III is set hundreds of years into the future from the last game, in a time of conquest and discovery of a new world, with colonies struggling for a foothold in the untamed wilds of the North and South Americas. Together with new stunning visuals, and an RPG like element with the Home City improvements, Age of Empires III is a breath of fresh air. Of course, with so much new and improved, it is a shame that they forgot to improve one of the most important parts of the Real Time Strategy genre: the combat is simplified and common place, a dark spot in an otherwise brilliant game.
