Asus Extreme AX1800XT TOP Review

The EAX1800XT TOP is of course based off the VPU of ATI's Radeon X1800 XT, or the R520, which not only is fast but brought ATI up to the graphics quality standards of Nvidia. This includes supporting Shader Model 3.0, High Dynamic Rendering (HDR), AVIVO, and more. While the standard clock for the Radeon X1800XT is 625MHz for the GPU and 750MHz for the memory, Asus bumps this up to 700MHz for the core and 800MHz for the memory, all shipping speeds. To do this Asus brings in some massive heatsink and fan solution from Arctic cooling that takes up two slots and features four heatpipes and a copper heatsink to keep the system stable. The solution works excellently, not getting too hot and in fact we were able to overclock it further, but only slightly as we were limited by Asus' software how far we could go. We brought it up to 810MHz for the memory and 710MHz for the core.
