Since it came on the scene five years ago, the open source OpenOffice project has been in a constant state of evolution, and the 2.0 version of this free office suite is stable and rich enough to impress the heck out of us. As the basis for Sun’s StarOffice suite, this software has become incredibly sophisticated over the years, in some ways vaulting beyond the capabilities of its obvious fee-based competitor, Microsoft Office..
