As today’s machines get more and more complex, heat becomes a bigger and bigger issue. With Intel’s Pentium M processor, it has certainly become less of a problem compared to the Pentium 4 days, but heat is still a major enemy of today’s laptops. Larger machines in the 15.4” to 17” range help with heat dissipation thanks to the larger chassis, and sub-15” machines by nature have more trouble with heat for the same reason. Just sitting idle on a desk, most laptops that are well designed do not have issues with excessive heat..
