Thin and flat LCD and plasma displays are on the fast track toward world domination, but rear-projection televisions (RPTV) remain the best value for big-screen enjoyment. The Mitsubishi WD-52628 ($3,699 list) is the smallest in the company's 628 family of DLP (Digital Light Processing) RPTVs, but its 52-inch screen produced brighter images than we've seen from any RPTV. We were also impressed with the abundant A/V inputs and integrated features—but our testing revealed a few image flaws that detract from an otherwise pleasing picture.
