AMDZone has posted up our review of the XFX GeForce 7900 GTX, GT, and 7600 GT XXX Editions, with the highest clock speeds available. We compare to the X1900XTX, 7800 GTX, 7800 GTX 512, X1800 XL, 7800 GT, and more.

It is hard to believe but it has been more than eight months since Nvidia launched their GeForce 7800 GTX at the end of June, setting a new standard for hard launches and taking the performance lead. At $599 it was one of the most expensive cards we've seen, especially if you take into account SLI. A few more months and the 7800 GT was unveiled, with great performance and chopping off $100-200 as well as a few pixel shaders. 2005 was definitely not a banner year for ATI, missing dates on Crossfire's launch as well as R520 coming out towards the end of the year, an impressive card but not quite good enough and far too late. Luckily, ATI finally answered all of these problems with the X1900 series of cards that launched in late January, taking the performance lead from Nvidia, having a hard launch, and launching all of the variations of the card. At the same time this happened, Nvidia ran into problems with their GeForce 7800 GTX 512, as after launch the cards were near impossible to find and definitely not without a heavily inflated price.
