The JVC GR-D396U offers a 16:9 widescreen mode, but unlike other models reviewed here, it features only a 2.5-inch LCD display. This screen scrunches up the picture, making the widescreen video look squeezed. Video captured with the JVC GR-D396U was sharp, but colors were slightly oversaturated, particularly in the red channel.
