In our search for the ideal iPod case we stumbled upon this magnesium model from Pacific Rim Technologies. While most cases are plastic or faux leather, Pacific Rim has smartly made one out of magnesium, a material which is both extremely light and strong. These qualities make it the ideal material for a protective enclosure, though it is does have its downsides, nameley that it is expensive to work with.
