Vantec NexStar LX NAS Hard Drive Enclosure Review

Just to be clear, the LX is only an enclosure, meaning you’ll have to provide your own IDE hard drive. The LX is similar to the familiar USB- or FireWire-based external hard drive enclosures with two distinct differences. First, it offers 10/100 Ethernet connectivity via an RJ-45 connection, and secondly, it doesn’t need to be directly connected to a PC to function. You can assign an IP address to the LX and then access it as you would any other node on your network - hence, Network Attached Storage (NAS).
