Most laptops I review offer the latest and greatest in laptop components. But when the operative word is "cheap," you're looking at components that need to make the compromise between performance and features and price. My quest to find the cheapest notebook available landed me at my local Best Buy, where I once found a Gateway MX3230 selling for $400. This time around, I got my hands on the Gateway MX6214, which was on sale for $579.99. Though it's far from being a thoroughbred both in looks and features, the MX6214 can run many of your office and mediacentric tasks.
