While the Kodak EasyShare P712 bears an uncanny resemblance to the P850, this new model has some important internal differences. It has a 7.1 megapixel resolution, a 12X stabilized zoom and a 2.5-inch LCD monitor in addition to the electronic viewfinder. The body of the P712 is composed of black plastic, as are the majority of the external controls. Only the portion of the lens barrel that is deployed when the camera is turned on, the shutter release, and a thin strip that extends down the grip area from the shutter release have a metallic finish.
