Athlon 64 3000+ Review
Posted on 2003-12-19 10:14:02 by LSDsmurfHere we see from the markings that the CPU is a 3000+ rating, and the AEP4AP reveals a 512kb cache. A 1MB CPU would have a 5 instead of a 4. The last P indicates a shipping and not an engineering sample as we have seen with some 3400+ on the markets that were packaged before AMD changed their 2GHz part to a 3200+ rating. The date code indicates a week 44 CPU from this year. The batch code is a CAAMC. Let's move on to the system setup and benchmarking.
Also in the above clip from the review there are a number of older Athlon 64s marked 3400+ that are in fact ones that were made before the rating was changed to the 3200+. We have details about this including a picture of such a CPU on our main page. A true 3400+ will have a newer date code, and will run at a full 2.2GHz unlike this 2GHz parts. We had one months ago before Athlon 64 launch marked in this manner, and we have a comparison to it as well.
Lastly we have details about HP now offering an Athlon 64 system that can be configured below $1,000. It is based on the Athlon 64 3200+. The url is massive thanks to HP’s strange web setup, but you can grab it from our front page if you choose.
