Today's laptops are rapidly acquiring faster processors and beefier graphics cards, making it possible to process more multimedia and have it look great on your mobile display. However, getting the content delivered to your laptop is still a major obstacle in being able to use your mobile solution for more multimedia functionality. Hauppauge is hoping to hurdle that obstacle with its WinTV-HVR-950, which brings broadcast and cable TV to your laptop. PCI cards in desktops have provided a cable TV input for some time, but the options for a laptop are understandably more limited. We've evaluated two devices somewhat similar to this one, the Compro VideoMate U900 and the Diamond PVR-660, but the Hauppauge is the first one we’ve tested that delivers broadcast HD in such a small, portable package.
