Today we test drive another high-end motherboard sporting the Intel X38 chipset, this particular version comes from Gigabyte and goes by the name of X38T-DQ6. This board exclusively supports DDR3 memory and costs a cool $300 US. With a typical list of X38 features, X38 performance and a standard kind of board design, what makes this expensive motherboard so special? Well this is what we want to find out...

There are only half a dozen Intel X38 boards on the market that support DDR3 memory at the moment, and we suspect this is because most motherboard manufacturers probably do not expect to sell all that many DDR3 supportive motherboards. Although users will pay a price penalty for the DDR3 version of the X38-DQ6, this motherboard is still quite competitively priced at $300 US. For example ASUS offer two X38 motherboards that support DDR3 memory, being the ASUS P5E3 Deluxe which was used as a comparison board, and the Maximum Extreme, both of which retail for roughly $340 US.
