Canon has seen its lead in the consumer digital SLR market slipping away recently, and is now running to catch up in a crowded and highly competitive field. The EOS 450D, a 12.2-megapixel entry-level model featuring live view and easy-to-use picture customisation, is facing stiff competition from market rivals Nikon, Sony, Pentax and Olympus. Can it claw back some of the lead, or is it too little and too late?
