As the never ending battle for a better cooling solution continues, more and more manufactures are turning to heat pipe direct touch technology to increase the efficiency of their coolers. Heat pipe coolers have been around for a while and with the exception of stock coolers is pretty much the standard and is necessary if any overclocking is to take place while keeping the heat under control. Standard heat pipe coolers place the heat pipes in a copper base; that copper base comes into contact with the IHS of the processor. While heat pipe coolers work well, there is always room for improvement. Heat pipe direct touch technology places the heat pipes in direct contact with the integrated heat spreader of the processor which increases heat transfer.
