Where SquareEnix excelled, was at their ability to combine a fighting game with an RPG successfully. As a fighting game Dissidia works well and as an RPG, the game works just as well; combined, they make for a very interesting and extremely original game. The returning fans of the series will have the chance to play as their favorite heroes in the story mode but will also have the chance to try out their favorite villains as well in the arcade, online or custom battle modes. I was lucky enough to be able to get this game as a rental on its release day but now I regret wasting the rental money instead of just buying Dissidia: Final Fantasy right from the start. If you do decide to give this game a try, do yourself and SquareEnix a favor and spend some time with the game before giving up.
