As a 40-inch LCD TV with LED backlighting, the first thing we need to do in this review is nail what bit of the LED world it belongs to. And rather surprisingly, it turns out that it's a direct LED model - as in, one where the LED lights are positioned directly behind the screen, rather than being positioned around the screen's frame as happens with edge-lit LED LCD TVs such as Samsung's B7000 and B8000 ranges.
