Vantec EZ Swap 2 Removable Hard Drive Rack Review

Removable storage devices are gaining a lot of popularity these days thanks to the constant threat of bad guys trying every conceivable means possible to get information from your hard drive. Now the average home computer doesn't have as many secrets on it as say one from the Lawrence Livermore Labs might, but I image there are still a large number of files that you would neither want someone to take or for you to lose.

Today we're checking out the Vantec EZ Swap 2 Removable Hard Drive Rack which should offer you two things once it's installed. Security knowing that you can take your drive with you where ever you go - and knowing that in an emergency you might be able to grab your drive and possibly save your data without having to worry about the entire system.

1. The Caddy uses the drives own connectors each time the caddy is inserted into the docking bay instead of providing internal connectors in the caddy for the drive and using connectors provided between the caddy and docking bay.
2. While the docking bay has an activity LED this is of no use when there is more than one drive bay installed in the computer as the LED is dependent on the motherboard and all LEDs would be activated. It would be far better if the individual docking bays handled the illumination of the activity LED.
