While AMD (ATI back then) had the high-end market covered with the HD 5800 series and lower-end with the HD 5700 and 5600 series of DX11 cards, the mainstream market that hovers around the $200 mark was always out of their grasp. This gap was quickly filled in by Nvidia with the GTX 460 retailing at the sub-$200 price point. Now with the 2nd generation of DX11 GPUs on the horizon, AMD has decided to shake up the competition a little.
