Microsoft surveyed their customers when redesigning this mouse and asked them, "Do you want a recharger on your desk that your mouse needs to be put into each night? Or do you want improved battery life with no charger?" The answer they got was that people wanted longer battery life. Microsoft took the feedback to the labs and started redesigning.
