OCZ Vertex 3 120GB SSD Review

Back in February, we had our first look at the OCZ Vertex 3 drive featuring the newest rendition of the SandForce SF-2200 controllers. While only a beta drive, it put up some impressive numbers as well as being one of the few SATA 6Gbps consumer drives released this year. Instead of the 240 GB version, this time around OCZ sent us over a 120 GB drive and there's definitely a difference in performance between the two. Have a look at the article to get the details.

Quote: "Performance on the OCZ Vertex 3 120GB SSD was excellent and on the compressible data benchmarks, the drive exceeded the rated specifications of 550MB/s read and 500MB/s writes. Incompressible data slowed things down noticeably on the sequential writes and that is where the Vertex 3 120GB lost ground to the larger Vertex 3 240 GB drive as it has half the number of die channels. Still, the random performance was exemplary and that's where Windows spends much of its time in terms of data access..."
