During the last week we've played with the Windows XP 64-Bit Edition Release Candidate 2. In contrast to most reviews about RC1 we decided to use a non-NVIDIA setup: The combination of ULis 1689 chipset and an ATi Radeon 9800Pro may look a bit exotic, but it worked quite well and the performance was good, too. Talking about performance: Regarding the SiSoft Sandra 2005 SR1 benchmarks published by xbitlabs.com last week, we were more than supprised to see exactly the same results - but the OTHER WAY AROUND! The performance gaps are exactly the same but - in contrast to xbitlabs.com - our system showed the 64-Bit Edition up in front! We've double and triple checked these results and the winner in SiSoft Sandra 2005 is definately the Athlon 64/XP 64 team!
