The time is at last right for NVIDIA to official launch its GeForce GTX 660 after a few delays. Designed to compete against AMD's Radeon HD 7850, the GTX 660's new 28nm GK106 continues to leverage the SMX (streaming multiprocessor) architecture and GPU Boost technology first seen on the higher-end GTX 680.

The EVGA GTX 660 SC Edition we're reviewing today features 960 CUDA cores, a 980MHz "base" GPU clock and a maximum potential GPU Boost clock of 1032MHz. The EVGA offering packs 2GB of GDDR5 memory clocked at 6GHz with a 192-bit memory interface, which could mean it performs much closer to the HD 7870.
