First up we see what will be the first Intel dual core desktop processor codenamed "Smithfield." This CPU will best be thought of as two Pentium 4 Extreme Editions side by side on one piece of silicon. All the current features will be present and we will see this CPU later this year. While using the current LGA775 socket, it will not be compatible with current chipsets like we are seeing promised by AMD of their dual core CPUs. This Smithfield will require a new i955X chipset.
