Sony PSP + games Review

Posted on Sunday, April 03 2005 @ 21:05:36 CEST by LSDsmurf

The PSP is an incredible leap forward for handheld gaming. You just need one look at a unit running Ridge Racer to be blown away. So if your looking for a portable gaming platform then 'buy now.' But, be warned for all the cool features advertised the PSP is not the best media player. Because it lacks a hard drive you will be forced to either buy UMD movies (not playable on anything else) or 'rip' content to your player.

With Sony memory cards costing around $200 a gig even a moderate music library will become very expensive and video would seem to be out of the question.... particularly for the iPod generation now used to having a large selection of content on their portable player. It's a real shame given the wonderful screen, however, I would wait for another revision and hope for an engineering miracle to add a hard drive to the device. That said, I'm off to play some Lumines! Good times.
