Are you tired of that electrical umbilical cord hopelessly trapping you inside your home and introverted lifestyle forever? Well no worry friends the good people at the Sony Corporation have found an electrifying way to liberate us from our ball and chain power supplies with the new PSP. It is a good thing too I was growing tired of lugging around my television, TiVo, DVD player, Xbox, Gamecube, Playstation 2, and my computer. In all seriousness, as you know, these are HOME electronics, but why even think about going outside? It is scary there are bears outside. Well because the time has come for everybody to breather in some fresh air for a change and if you are anything like me (have a lifestyle that includes venturing outside, you like electronics, and you too have been consumed by the hypnotic consumerist technological hype) this digital pacifier might be your key to going outdoors. So sit back in a comfy computer chair and maybe get a cool drink, because I am about to tell you about the greatest thing that may ever fit within your hands.

The Sony PlayStation Portable even with its name reminds you of it latest and greatest predecessor the Playstation 2. To bare the PS name is great itself, but what is more amazing is succeeding the much larger PS2 in almost every capability. The amount of potential stored within such a small portable is simply remarkable. The functions of the PSP are as follows: wireless connectivity and soon internet ready, awe-inspiring data storage and connectivity options, exquisite video and digital music playback, and of course the ability to play new and re-released PLayStation games. With all of these dazzling media endeavors, a price of $249.99 where other similar devices ranging around the five hundred and up range, and exhilarating hardware specifications it appears to be the guiding artificial light to a whole new outdoor life.

The Playstation Portable is like a free flying bird puffing its beautiful feathers through the wind by means of its tremendous muscle and outstanding design. Simply put the PSP constantly flexes hardware muscles through its first-rate performance. The hardware used in the PSP rivals today's high end performance PDAs. Accommodating outstanding hardware such as the IEEE 802.11b (Wi-Fi), fast data transfer with USB 2.0 (mini-B), an infrared port, UMD drive, built-in stereo speakers, 4.3 inch screen LCD with an outrageous 16.77 million colors display (that is the same color output as the Apple 30 inch High Definition Cinema display), 32MB of main memory, 4MB of embedded DRAM, and a Monstrous 333MHz CPU. But what does all that jargon mean for those who are not technologically superior? Well it does not really matter, because it does not take a genius to see how great of a product it is. Whether you understand this evolution of portable gamming hardware or not the PSP is surely paving the way for portable technological advancements.

The first benchmark of handheld gaming was the Nintendo DS, the rival of the PSP, which seemed to be the weapon of choice for gamers for a short time. Unfortunately SONY released the PSP and it completely overwhelmed the capabilities of the DS. Sadly they also overwhelmed the price of DS as well. There is no question about it that the PSP surpasses the DS in everyway possible, but Nintendo still has the heart and soul of its original game titles. So unless you are in love with Mario I see no reason for anyone to by a Nintendo DS now that the PSP has come out.

Technically exhilarating hardware specifications, dazzling graphics and functions are the quality capabilities that keep consumers buying the Sony PSP. By stomping the competition and constantly releasing new software and hardware the PlayStation Portable proves it is here to stay. For 2005 if you are looking for the best of the best in portable gaming look no further than Sony PSP. I think the band At The Drive-In sums it up the best saying "It takes the weight out of living Let these walkers trip on Endless proof.
