Please bear in mind that this review was submitted by one of our users. It's his opinion and not necessarily ours.

Let me make a few things clear regarding the Sony PSP and the Nintendo DS:
1. A PSP and a DS simply can't be compared. Besides games the PSP can also play movies, music, video, photo imaging and more.
2. Sony PSP is not the only machine that do all these functions. Gizmondo can do the same. What it means is that the industry has moved forward to a portable multimedia player, not just games. So we could say that DS is a technology of the past.
3. There is a lot of talk about future development for DS. However, nothing new is on the market. Likely, Nintendo would be wise to produce a new portable machine rather than dwelling on the DS.
4. Price is definitely an issue for PSP. However, if the price for a PSP is same as Nintendo DS, there will be no more competition. There will be only one portable system left - that is Sony PSP.
5. Battery life is a criticism. Don't forget. PSP is also a movie player. If you buy a portable DVD player, the best battery life you get is 4 hours for a 7 inches screen.
6. Graphics. This depends on the game programs and the hardward. The Nintendo fans are looking at the programs alone, forgetting that PSP hardware can do a lot more. There is no comparison between the two. PSP is way better.
7. Screen. Yes, the PSP sceen can be scratched. That is why you like to buy a cheap screen cover to protect it. It is not a big deal. You should do the same with your Nintendo DS or palm pilot anyway. In addition, PSP is NOT a toy. You dont drop and throw your portable DVD players around. Why do you want to do the same thing with PSP? DS, on the other hand, will always remain a toy.
8. Games. Nintendo fans say that they have more game titles for their systems. But, why do you want to buy a PSP just for games? If you spend several hours daily to play games, may as well have a XBOX or PS2 hooked up to your big screen TV rather than looking at your tiny portable. Nintendo game cube sucks and is not worth considering. For those who do spend hours looking at your portable device, you are mentally ill with addiction and your eyes will be sore everyday.

Finally, my opinion about PSP. I think that price is on the high side especially if you need a higher memory stick and all the accessories (ie. case, car adapter, UMB boxes, etc.) However, I enjoy it and do not regret about buying. Other than those mentioned above, I do not find any other problems. There is a concern about bad pixels. This problem is way overblown, considering the number of PSP on the market worldwide. Unless they are obvious, most peole do not even recognize them. If you insist in a perfect machine, then wait. The technology is advancing. There will be better machine in the future whether it is from Sony, Nintendo or others. Sony may be able to make the screen prefect for evey PSP. Who knows? The price of PSP will drop when a new generation or better machine comes out. To me, PSP is the best gadget on the market. If it does not exist, I would not consider other systems. They are just not worth buying.
