NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT Green doesn't need external power

Posted on Friday, February 27 2009 @ 00:01:10 CET by Thomas De Maesschalck

VR Zone received a bit more information about the upcoming GeForce 9800 GT Green Edition.

The site reports the Green Edition of the GeForce 9800 GT won't require a 6-pin connector for auxiliary power, because it uses only 75W compared to the 105W of the current model.

The Green Edition uses the revised P360 PCB and will have 512MB GDDR3 clocked at 900MHz, which is the same clockspeed as the regular model. The other clockspeeds will be cut though, and the GPU will run at a lower voltage.

You can expect this card on retail shelves by mid-March.
