AMD Chief Technology Officer to leave

AMD's CTO Phil Hester announced he is stepping down to pursue other opportunities:
"It was not a surprise and Phil leaves on good terms," he said. The chief technology officer post will not be filled after Hester's departure, he said. Instead, the company will rely on five chief technology officers assigned to each of the company's major business segments.

Under Hester, Keosheyan said, the chief technology officer's office was focused on "attracting, motivating the best technical employees in the industry."

"These activities will continue within the distributed CTO structure," he said.
