Engadget reports Commodore USA's new C64 is now available for pre-order. For $595 you get a keyboard with integrated Intel Atom D525 (1.8GHz, dual-core) processor, NVIDIA ION2, 2GB DDR3 and a 160GB HDD. The system is expected to ship by early June, and hundred dollar increments will add extra features like Blu-ray, extra RAM, wireless connectivity, and more storage capacity. You can use it as a regular PC but the interesting thing is that you can also play all your favorite 8-bit games from the Commodore 64 era by selecting the C64 icon from the boot menu to run the Commodore OS 10 emulator. This piece of software plus a classic game package will be mailed to purchasers when available.
