Windows 10 marketshare now stands at 4.76 percent

The latest weekly operating system marketshare data from StatCounter reveals that since its July 29 launch, Windows 10 has captured a global marketshare of 4.76 percent in the desktop market.

Windows 7 remains the most commonly used OS with a marketshare of 53.48 percent, down from 54.41 percent in the launch week of Windows 10, while Windows 8.1 use dropped from 16.45 percent to 14.25 percent.

The rest of the market consists of Windows XP with a 9.78 percent marketshare, Apple's OS X at 8.45 percent, Windows 8 at 3.36 percent and all other and unknown operating systems combined make up another 5.92 percent.

In the coming weeks we expect Windows 10's marketshare will soar significantly as as lots of people are still waiting for the update to hit their system.
