Tesla Model S gets a Summon feature (video)

Tesla Model S owners just received a new software update that adds a "summon" feature to the car's Autopilot system. Part of software update 7.1, this feature enables the car to pull into or out of parking spaces autonomously. Additionally, the car can also automatically open your garage door, if you have a garage door opener with HomeLink connection. Exact details on how the feature works are not known.

The feature is similar to something BMW included with the newest 7-series, but that system required the owner to manually guide the car into the spot — Tesla’s has the car take care of it all on its own.
