So far Windows 10 Game Mode seems to be a dud

Microsoft recently rolled out the Game Mode for Windows 10 via the latest Windows 10 Insiders build. This new mode promises to enhance game performance by prioritizing access to the system resources so PCGamesN decided to check out these claims. Perhaps the Game Mode will receive further enhancements in the coming months, but at the moment it isn't looking good.

The results are a mixed bag, in Hitman the Game Mode improves average frame rates by 6 percent on the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060, while also delivering a considerable boost in minimum frame rates. This is unfortunately the most positive result, in other games like Rise of the Tomb Raider and Forza Horizon 3 performance actually gets worse after turning on Game Mode. Similarly, it seems to have no effect on a system with the AMD Radeon RX 480.
The Rise of the Tomb Raider story doesn't get any better, there are still slight performance drops with the Game Mode benchmarks. Though as they're so slight that could just be standard variance in the testing.

And finally Game Mode's bĂȘte noire, Forza Horizon 3, still shows definite peformance drops across the board.

The story hasn't changed with the additional testing, in its current preview state Game Mode isn't really doing anything that would make me want to flip the switch in the Windows settings and have it delving into my games.
Seems like a lot more work is needed to make the Game Mode worth having.
