Speaking at a recent investor conference, Intel CEO Brian Krzanich revealed initial shipments of 10nm processors will begin by the end of the year, with larger volumes to follow as 2018 progresses. He also indicated 7nm chips are expected to follow two to three years after the production of the first 10nm chips, which would put it roughly between early 2020 to early 2021:
Krzanich also offered some insight into when we should expect to see the company ship the first products based on its 7-nanometer technology, noting that such shipments should happen between two and three years after the first 10-nanometer shipments occur.

Two years after the first production shipments of 10-nanometer chips would put the first production shipments of 7-nanometer chips at between early 2020 to early 2021.
Intel intends to target the data center first with its initial 7nm processors. Ashraf Eassa of The Motley Fool sensed Intel aspires to get 7nm into volume production in early 2020, but that it's making a plan B in case production difficulties force it to slip it into early 2021. Either way, consumer chips made on the 7nm node are probably not going to happen until 2021.
