Yesterday a story hit the wire about how Jim Keller's team at Tesla is designing an AI chip for self-driving cars. According to the rumor, the chip uses intellectual property (IP) from AMD and would be manufactured by Globalfoundries.

The foundry now contradicts earlier media reports and states Tesla has not committed to working with it on any self-driving car product or technology.

A spokesperson for GlobalFoundries notes yesterday's CNBC report was inaccurate. More specifically, the news channel had misinterpreted comments from GlobalFoundries CEO Sanjay Jha:
The spokesperson for GlobalFoundries said that Jha’s comments at the GlobalFoundries Technology Conference were not reported accurately. The spokesperson said that in his presentation, Jha simply cited that companies like Apple, Google and Tesla are examples of companies showing interest in working closely with Silicon Valley companies to differentiate their offerings.
