Some new processors have been added to Intel's 8th Gen Core family. The company has expanded its portfolio with "Whiskey Lake" U-series processors, as well as "Amber Lake" based Y-series chips. Both are intended for the laptop market, the first notebooks and 2-in-1 devices with these Y-series (i7-8500, i5-8200Y, m3-8100Y) and U-series (i7-8565U, i5-8265U, i3-8145U) processors are expected this Fall. These are basically tweaked Kaby Lake CPUs, with upgraded USB and Ethernet functionality.
Intel today announced additions to the 8th Gen Intel® Core™ processor family: The U-series (formerly code-named Whiskey Lake) and Y-series (formerly code-named Amber Lake) are optimized for connectivity in thin, light laptops and 2 in 1s for the first time, while also providing ultimate mobile performance and long battery life.
