NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 desktop card with GDDR6 is about 6 percent faster

Yesterday, NVIDIA added two RTX 20 SUPER series GPUs and the firm also updated it existing mobile GPUs with GDDR6 memory. VideoCardz spotted evidence that there will also be new desktop versions with GDDR6 memory.

Asian tech site Expreview got its hands on a ZOTAC GTX 1650 GDDR6 video card and put it through its bench suite. The new GDDR6 version of the GTX 1650 seems to have a Boost clock of only 1590MHz, which is quite a bit lower than the 1665MHz of the original. However, it does have 12Gbps GDDR6, which is a lot faster than the original's 8Gbps GDDR5. The card now has 192GB/s memory bandwidth, which is 64GB/s more than before.

In terms of performance, the GDDR6 model is 2 to 10 percent faster in most games, and 5 to 8 percent faster in synthetic tests. Furthermore, it also has a lower power consumption:
Expreview conducted a standard GPU test for their ZOTAC GAMING model. In terms of actual gaming performance, they concluded that the new model is 5% to 8% faster in synthetic benchmarks and 2% to 10% faster in most games, despite featuring a lower boost clock.

This performance boost is likely due to the fact that GDDR6 memory has lower voltage and thus needs less power. This was later proven by their power consumption tests where the new model required on average 76W while the GDDR5-model would consume around 83W. This particularly important because both cards have the same TDP targets, meaning the GDDR6 model can use more power for the GPU itself.
It's unknown when these cards will be introduced.
