Samsung teased its 980 Pro SSD at CES 2020 at the start of the year. This is the first PCI Express 4.0 consumer disk from the South Korean giant and more details are finally hitting the web. Back in January, Samsung teased a 6.5GB/s read speed but now it seems that the 1TB model will actually have an up to 7GB/s read speed and a 5GB/s write speed! Other specifications include random 4K read and write IOPS of up to 1 million.

The disk is also offered in 250GB and 500GB variants. The former has a 6.4GB/s read speed and 2.7GB/s write speed, while the latter offers 6.9GB/s reads and 5.0GB/s writes.

The 980 Pro uses TLC NAND flash memory in combination with the Samsung Elpis SSD controller. Unfortunately, the availability and pricing is still unknown.
