Chinese tech site MyDrivers claims motherboards with the Intel 400-series chipsets are abotu to get more expensive. The site heard there's a looming shortage of 400-series chipsets as no new supply is coming in. Besides the chipsets, there's also said to be a shortage of PCBs and various electronic components.

Supply of the high-end Z490 chipset is said to be acceptable but serious shortages are expected of motherboards with the H410, B460, and other chipsets.

Consumers should expect higher retail prices for these products. ASUS, Gigabyte, and MSI have reportedly all three adjusted their shipment strategy and increased pricing.

The arrival of Intel's 500-series chipsets is expected to alleviate the situation. Intel is expected to reveal its 500-series chipsets at next week's digital-only CES 2021 show, but it's unknown when 500-series motherboards will start shipping.
