At an IT Forum in Barcelona, Microsoft presented the Powershell command line and scripting engine for Windows.
PowerShell command line shell and scripting language makes it a bit easier to control system administration and automation tasks across Windows Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista and Longhorn.
A spokesVole said that PowerShell will be built into Longhorn and can be used to automate the server software's new Server Manager.
It is also built into Microsoft's Systems Centre Operations Manager 2007, which will hit the shops in the first quarter of next year, and Systems Centre Virtual Machine Manager in the second half of 2007.

Thanks for the post LSDSmurf. I just wanted to clarify that Windows PowerShell will not be part of Windows Server "Longhorn". It is a separate download for all operating systems and will be a pre-requisite (separate download) for Operations Manager 2007, Virtual Machine Manager, Exchange Server 2007 and partner products like PowerGadgets.com and www.nsoftware.com/powershell NetCmdlets. PowerShell will be included with the Windows OS in the next 2-4 years. All products that leverage now will ship with unique cmdlets (command line tools) that make it easier to manage from the cmd line and automate via scripts. For instance Exchange 2007 will have 450 cmdlets that leverage the integrated CLI shell and scripting language in PowerShell.
