Micron to delay launch of 2Gbit NAND flash memory

Micron may miss its target of introducnig 2Gbit NAND flash memory by the end of this year, since the company will not have these chips sampled until either November of December. NAND memory is for instance used in digital cameras, mobile phones and other devices.

This will be Micron’s second delay for the chip samples, the sources said. Micron had already delayed sampling to September from July, the sources added, but did not elaborate on the cause of the delays.

Micron is a new player in the NAND flash market. The 2Gbit product will be the company’s first NAND flash product.
