Intel has launched new Centrino chips yesterday, with higher performance and improved multimedia features.
The updated Centrino platform will be used immediately in more than 80 laptop models, and Dell has already unveiled a PC using the chips at a price of sub $1000.

PC makers cannot use the Centrino brand unless they buy the entire bundle of Intel chips. Together, the newly released chips will cost PC makers between $270 and $705, depending on which chips are selected, Intel said.The company holds a market share of approx. 85 percent in the notebook processor market.
