Validation issue delays ATI Radeon HD 5830 launch

AMD reportedly had to delay the launch of its ATI Radeon HD 5830 graphics card due to an issue that was found during the validation process. According to DigiTimes, an issue with the board's circuitry triggered an error on card makers' software testing platforms. Cards on the Radeon HD 5830 are now unlikely to hit the market until early February.

The issue is related to circuits on the board, and is triggering an error on card makers' software testing platforms, the sources explained. AMD has already decided to retrieve related boards for further investigation.

AMD responded stating that products are in the hands of its customers, and are currently undergoing the normal batch of tests. AMD declined to comment on the reported issue saying it does not respond to market rumors or comment on unreleased products. AMD also stressed that there is no issue with AMD GPU-based cards already on the market.
