Intel's Cedar Mill to have lower power consumption: 65W

Intel's 65nm Cedar Mill processor will have a power consumption of approx. 65W, compared to 115W of the current Prescott CPUs. This processor is planned for early next year.

However, the power consumption of Intel’s 65-nm, dual-core Presler CPU, also to be launched in the first quarter of 2005, will still be at the same level as the dual-core Smithfield CPU, at around 130W, the sources said. The Smithfield CPU is slated for launch in the second quarter of this year.
