Microsoft disables Windows XP Service Pack 2 blocking feature

Microsoft today removed the Windows XP Service Pack 2 download block. With the launch of SP2 the company provided tools to block the Automatic Update from downloading Service Pack 2, and today the built-in expiration date expires.

While users can still block SP2 from reaching desktops by turning off Automatic Update, that would also stymie other updates, including Tuesday's expected eight security patches.
