Windows Phone 7 sales disappoint

Thomas De Maesschalck Posted on by
A source at a market research firm told The Street that Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 isn't impressing consumers. Despite Microsoft's massive advertising budget, barely 40,000 Windows Phone 7 devices exchanged hand during the first day of sales in the US.
Even with a glitzy media intro last month hosted by champion inside-seller and company chief Steve Ballmer, Microsoft, which spent a reported $100 million on the phone's advertising campaign, sold a mere 40,000 Windows 7 phones Monday, according to a market research source who tracks phone sales.

The anemic sales number does not include the 89,000 Microsoft employees that will be given free Windows 7 phones.

Fatal flaw - non removeable memory card. Bad choice. Zero good reasons for doing it. Why would customers buy something so basically flawed? The Iphone does all a Win 7 phone does, and does it better. So if they are both equivalent on not having a memory card, why not just go with the Iphone which is nearly perfect? MS needed to both match the Iphone and beat it. Fatal small flaws (features lacking in the eyes of the customers) are enough to drive them to Apple instead.
