IBM and Toppan to develop 45nm process

IBM and Toppan Printing inked a $200 million deal to jointly developed a 45nm processor that should be ready for production by mid-2007. Research and testing of the process will be conducted at IBM's fabs while Toppan will transfer the manufacturing processes to its own plants when finished.
The two companies hope to develop a photomask process, which can etch patterns of integrated circuits onto silicon wafers.
